Physiology

Physiology

“The physiology of today is the medicine of tomorrow” is a saying by Ernest H. Starling, Physiologist (1926). Human Physiology is the branch of medicine where the students learn about the normal functioning of all the systems of the body at gross as well as the cellular level. The knowledge of physiology helps the students to learn the basis of disease processes. Hence Physiology becomes the soul of the clinical subjects.

Post Graduate (PG) course: The department has been permitted for starting the post graduate course with intake of 3 students from the academic session 2017-2018

  2. Teaching is carried out in the form of didactic lectures, practicals and demonstrations, tutorials, seminars, problem based learning, group discussions, quiz sessions and Journal clubs.

Laboratories: Our laboratories are well equipped for teaching as well as for research purpose with following amenities. The various neurophysiologic studies in Neurophysiology Lab are carried out like nerve conduction studies, electromyography, EEG, BAER, VEP, SSEP on latest version of Neuroperfect. In Cardiology Lab ,the automatic ECG machine and 4 channel digital polyrite is routinely used for recording various parameters for research purposes like heart rate variability studies. The computerized Spirometer, SPIROEXCEL is used to perform various pulmonary function tests. In Exercise Physiology Lab, the various tests involving the Exercise are performed here, using the bicycle ergometer, treadmill, and Harvard step.
